It was in 1987 that in the community of La Grand'Terre, the flag of Franco-Newfoundlanders and Labradorians was raised for the first time, during the first shoveling of earth for the Sainte-Anne School and Community Center .

Every year, in the French-speaking regions of the province, the traditional raising of the Franco-Newfoundland and Labrador flag takes place.
