Since 1992, May 30 marks Provincial Francophonie Day in Newfoundland and Labrador. Gatherings take place in all French-speaking communities to celebrate the French fact.

In St. John's, an official ceremony takes place in the lobby of the Confederation Building starting at 11 a.m. Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will join Francophone organizations in the capital region to mark this day.

On the Port-au-Port peninsula, we celebrate in La Grand'Terre and Cap-Saint-Georges. In La Grand'Terre, the Sainte-Anne school organizes its open house at 5 p.m., followed by the raising of the Franco-Newfoundland and Labrador flag and a show by the students. In Cap-Saint-Georges, a flag-raising ceremony will take place at the fire station at 11 a.m. A community dinner and activities will follow this ceremony.

Also on the west coast of Newfoundland, the flag will also be raised at Corner Brook City Hall, starting at noon.

On the Labrador side, Francophones and Francophiles are invited to gather in front of Happy Valley-Goose Bay town hall starting at 11 a.m., where there will be a cake tasting. At this same time, the flag will be raised in the sky over Labrador City.
