National Acadian Day
The Acadian people, pioneers and builders of the country, have celebrated Acadia Day on August 15 since 1881, the year in which the first Acadian national convention took place in Memramcook, New Brunswick. The law establishing National Acadian Day was sanctioned by the Government of Canada in 2003.
National Acadian Day highlights the contribution of Acadians to the Canadian cultural fabric, recognizes the historical presence of this people on the territory and celebrates their cultural specificity in all its diversity.
