Teaching to achieve the global competences of level A1 of the CEFR
This course will last 62.5 hours and will be offered on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for 24 Saturdays, i.e. 5 sessions of 5 weeks.
The course will start on Saturday October 21, 2023
Students will be prepared to take the DELF A1 proficiency exam after completing the 5 sessions. Students will complete language tasks for each class.

Assess your level of French
To arrange an assessment, and for more information on the programme, we recommend that you contact Camilla Stoodley, (French class coordinator) 709-689-0439 Or [email protected]. She can do a quick test over the phone, and tell you which class is recommended for you, based on your level. You can also ask him what the class schedule will be.

Global skills scale for CEFR level A1
The CEFR Common Global Reference Scale defines the A1 level user as being capable of the following language skills:
- Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
- Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.
- Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
Cancellations and refunds
No refunds are possible unless the course is cancelled by the ACFSJ due to a lack of registrations or for any other reason.
Payments must be received within 24 hours of registration. No registration is valid without payment.
The ACFSJ will cancel your registration after this 24-hour period without payment.
