About ACFSJ
The Francophone Community Association of Saint-Jean (ACFSJ) is a non-profit organization that offers a wide variety of activities and services for all tastes and budgets. Most of our activities take place at the French-speaking community center.
Programs and Services
- French courses (fall, winter and spring)
- Saturday Club (10 weeks twice a year – starting September and February)
- Recreational classes (yoga, tai chi, African dance, zumba etc.)
- Seasonal holidays (Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc.)
- Wind Festival
- Concert (French-speaking heart, Assomption Vie tour)
- Cinema (Québec Cinema Tour, Canadian Cinema Day, NFB film screenings, etc.)
- Workshop (painting, cooking, soap making, linocutting, etc.)
- Sport (badminton, football, skating, swimming)
- Choir rehearsal (La Rose des Vents choir)
- Activities for resourceful people (lunch, tea and knitting walk inside the Works).
- Learning for toddlers (story time, “little chicks” playgroup, etc.)
Assignment
The Association's mission is to inspire and support the development and action of the French-speaking community in the Saint-Jean region, and to promote its social, artistic and cultural development.
Vision
A thriving and united French-speaking community in all its diversity, open and radiating across the Saint-Jean region.
The objects of the Association are:
a. plan, administer and coordinate the overall development of the French-speaking community of Saint-Jean and its surroundings;
b. represent and promote the Francophone community of the Saint-Jean region in all its diversity, by promoting interculturality, accessibility and inclusiveness;
c. support the creation and production of French-language cultural works by creating a community environment favorable to the practice and artistic influence of French-speaking artists from here and elsewhere;
d. provide and manage resources, including those of the School Center and community of the Great Winds, to implement the objects described in paragraphs (a), (b) and (c);
