Community composting on the rise

BAPTISTE RICARD-CHÂTELAIN / Le Soleil -19 September 2019

Although it still plans to start collecting food waste for its biomethanization plant in 2022, Quebec City continues to fund new community composting sites. By the end of the year, there will be 31 such sites on the capital’s territory.
For several years now, the Craque-Bitume community organization has been gradually expanding the service, especially in the central neighbourhoods. “At the beginning of 2019, 22 sites were in operation and funded in Quebec City, all located in the borough of La Cité-Limoilou, except one [in Charlesbourg],” reads a recently posted municipal document.
