Why is free play outside and in the wild important for children?

For a variety of reasons, this way of life has been lost over the years. However, studies clearly show that free play is essential for children's development. Why? Why? Because play, which is synonymous with pleasure, represents an intrinsic need in children. Moreover, what defines free play in the first place, insists Louis-Philippe Dugas, is precisely its spontaneous character. The fact that it is initiated by the child himself. We can then add that the free game, at the beginning, has no precise purpose, that it is the opposite of work, even if it is based on activity and that it generates novelty.
